Did you ever lose a key?

Maybe in your coat?
Did you ever try to find it?
With your fingers numb
And shivering with cold?
Did you ever tap, first gently,
Then, increasingly with panic
On the wall?
Did you ever open up and find
It's you-
You're on the wrong side of the door.

How long can you stave off
The wolves as they bay
