Valley Care Counselling Service » History

Founding Principles

Valley Care Counselling Service was birthed out of the unity existing within the combined Churches of the Yarra Valley, particularly along the Warburton trail.

On behalf of those Churches, Graeme set up the Service based on the Berwick Counselling Center model. This is now the City of Casey's recognized central counselling service that is housed at the Berwick Regional Church of Christ, the place from which it originated. We acknowledge the co-operation and expertise of the counsellors and staff at that Center in allowing us to model their style and documentation.

Our desire was to create a community service that was available to all. This would mean that no one would be excluded on the basis of inability to pay, inability to get access to the rooms, and of course, race or religion. A number of Churches and businesses subsidize counselling sessions if and when required.
